Welcome Message

Welcome to our 5th Annual Myanmar Film Festival of Los Angeles (MFFLA). The goal of this event is to raise awareness of culture and to promote a greater appreciation of Myanmar Cinema by showcas-ing films about Myanmar and the diverse perspectives of the Myan-mar culture.
The MFFLA was first launched in 2007 by the NetMAA association. With the local community’s support, the festival was successfully introduced and shown its diverse genres of Myanmar Cinemas to the Myanmar-American communities and other American audiences in the U.S.
There is no other Myanmar (Burmese) community organization in the United States like Network of Myanmar American Association (NetMAA) – an organization that dedicated and devoted totally to maintain and promote Myanmar arts, culture, films and music. Our mission and visions are straightforward.
Before you build a house, you make a plan. You draw out how it will look and exactly how you will build it. Similarly, each successful organization must have a plan. And every few years, the organiza-tion should update its plan to grow even further and to adapt to the changing world we live in. NetMAA has accomplished many goals, and will continue to deliver more community outreach programs by being efficient and increasing our partnerships with community based organizations such as art museums, arts organizations, and local and state arts agencies.
We urge you strongly to consider in becoming a part of this unique and significant organization and being a member of our NetMAA family. In doing so, we can make a positive difference in our com-munity. The future for Myanmar Culture in the United States lies in continuing to work alongside with our communities. We play a vital role in helping to cultivate the growing Myanmar Community that sustains our culture.
Thank you all for attending the festival and especially those who took part in planning, organizing, setting up, and also volunteers for today’s Myanmar Film Festival. Thank you again on behalf of the Network of Myanmar American Association.
Yours sincerely,
Aung M. Naing Thankhine Bwor
